To change which map you are looking at press Page Up/Down. By switching the map in this way, you will lose any changes on the map that were you working on. So before switching maps, press 's' to save that map. The name of the map is in the upper right corner of the screen. If you want to save to a different map and not overwrite the current map, hold shift then press 's'. The "save as" text will come up and you can save it as something else. Be warned, though, you are still viewing the old map (look in the upper right corner). You'll have to find where in the list the new map was saved to continue working on it (or just shift + s again to save). Controls ---- t - Brings up tile set - select a tile by left clicking on it (DON'T RIGHT CLICK unless you want to change the type of tile it is, but this behavior will only change on your machine, not the machines you distribute the maps to) Now you're in "Tile Mode". Look to the upper left corner for the mode you're in. Tiles are collision detected blocks that don't move or background non-collision detected images. i - Brings up the interaction block set - select a block by left clicking on it. Now you're in "Block Mode". Blocks are collision detected blocks that interact with the player in some way, such as breaking upon impact, releasing powerups, bouncing, etc. Blocks can be placed over tiles without replacing the tile. So if a breakable block is placed over a tile block and in the game the player destroys the breakable block, then the tile block will become visible. s - Save the map to the name in the upper right corner of the screen shift + s - Save the map as a new name (but doesn't change the name of the current map) l - Load a map by name (it's easier just to use Page Up/Down to navigate through the list) n - Creates a new map and keeps the current map's tiles (if you want to do a "save as" while also changing the name of the current map you're working on, press 'n', name it then press 's'). File names now support underscore and space characters. c - Clears all tiles and blocks from the current map v - Hide the interaction blocks so you can view what is behind them b - changes the background image Left click - place a block Right Click - remove a block (only removes blocks from the mode you are in) ESC - Exit Make sure you play around with the controls a bit before trying to create an important map. Just remember that pressing 's' saves instantly to what ever map name is in the upper right corner, overwriting what ever was there before. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game Controls ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *********** * PC * *********** Menu ---- Up/Down - Choose menu option Left/Right - Change menu option Enter - Select menu option (also changes game mode goal) Space - Picks random map or mode when selected RCTRL - Hold down for Map View mode Map View Mode ---- Left/Right - switches to next/prev map Space - Picks random map Enter - Starts game Game ---- Enter - Pause game ESC - Exit back to menu Player 1 ---- Left Arrow - Left Right Arrow - Right Up Arrow - Jump Down Arrow - Jumps through solid on top blocks Hold RCTRL - Turbo running and jumping (shoots fireball if player has fire powerup or explodes bob-omb in bob-omb mode) Player 2 ---- a - Left d - Right w - Jump Hold s - Down jump Hold e - Turbo Player 3 ---- g - Left j - Right y - Jump h - Down jump Hold u - Turbo Player 4 ---- l - Left ' - Right p - Jump ; - Down jump Hold [ - Turbo *********** * XBOX * *********** Menu ---- Up/Down D-pad - Choose menu option Left/Right D-pad - Change menu option A Button - Select menu option (also changes game mode goal) X Button - Picks random map or mode when selected Y Button - Hold down for Map View mode Map View Mode ---- Left/Right D-pad - switches to next/prev map X Button - Picks random map A Button - Starts game Screen Resize Mode ---- Left Thumbstick - Move upper left corner of screen Right Thumbstick - Move lower right corner of screen A Button - Save setting and exit resize mode Game ---- Start - Pause game Back - Exit back to menu Player ---- Left D-pad - Left Right D-pad - Right A Button - Jump Hold Down D-pad + A Button - Jumps through solid on top blocks Hold X or B Button - Turbo running and jumping (shoots fireball if player has fire powerup or explodes bob-omb in bob-omb mode) The port the controller is plugged into determines which color Mario you will control. Killing yourself on spikes causes you to lose a life and collecting the 1up mushroom gives you an extra life. Frag Limit ---- This is the standard frag limit game where the first player to kill X players wins. Killing yourself on spikes causes you to lose a frag and collecting a 1up mushroom gives you an extra frag. Time Limit ---- This is a timed game played to the number of seconds you select. The player with the most frags at the end of this time is the winner. Killing yourself on spikes causes you to lose a frag and collecting a 1up mushroom gives you an extra frag. Coin Limit ---- This game isn't about killing other players, it is about collecting coins. The first player to collect X coins wins. Killing yourself on spikes has no effect (except for dying and respawning) and collecting the 1up counts as collecting a coin. Yoshi's Eggs ---- Yoshi's game is a little like capture the flag, where the flag is a green spotted dancing egg and the base is Yoshi. The first person to return X eggs to Yoshi wins the game. Eggs can be stolen from players that are carrying them by killing them. Killing yourself on spikes has no effect (you'll even keep the egg, if you have it) and collecting a 1up gives you an additional point. Chicken ---- This is the capture the chicken game from version 1.2, though it has been improved with chicken sounds and the player's sprite turns into a chocobo when he's the chicken. Initially, the first person to kill another person will turn into the chicken. The player that is the chicken will rack up points. The first player to X points wins. Dying on spikes will cause you to lose the chicken, if you are the chicken and collecting a 1up mushroom will give you 1/10th the goal points. Tag ---- Tag is the opposite of chicken mode. At the start, one player will randomly be chosen as the tagged one (they will be bright green with a white border). It is the job of the tagged one kill somebody else to transfer the tag. The tagged player gets a speed boost to help him catch the other players. When you're the tagged player, you'll be losing points. When your points reach 0, you are removed from the game and the player with the highest points will then become tagged. Dying on spikes has no effect and collecting a 1up mushroom restores 1/10th the starting points. Domination ---- This mode is like domination mode from many FPSs. There will be #ofplayers + 1 targets randomly placed around the map and it is the goal to control as many of them as possible. You control them by tagging them. The more you control, the faster you accumulate points. The first player to accumulate X points wins. Killing yourself has no effect and collecting a 1up gives you 1/10th the goal points. Fire Frenzy ---- This mode has the same rules as Frag Limit, except special fire flower powerup cards will randomly spawn around the map. Collecting one of these cards give you fire power. It makes death match just a little more exciting. Bob-Omb ---- This mode has the same rules as Frag Limit, except a special bob-omb powerup card will randomly spawn. Collecting this card turns you into a bob-omb. Press the turbo button to explode killing all players (except yourself) in a large area around you. After exploding the bob-omb, a new bob-omb powerup card will spawn. Survival ---- This mode has the same rules as Classic except now Thwomps rain down from the sky. Hitting a thwomp kills you. The last player alive wins. After spawning, your player will be invincible for one second so you have a chance to avoid any Thwomps you may have spawned into. You will have a yellow glow during this time. Free Play ---- This mode has all the same rules as frag limit except there's no limit. You play until you're done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game Features Since Version 1.22 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is a list of improvements that were added since version 1.22: - New interaction blocks Breakable blocks Note blocks Powerup blocks Flip blocks Bounce blocks Donut blocks - Powerups Star Fireflower 1up - 17 new background images - 280 tiles Ice tiles Death tiles (above only, below only or any side death) - 7 New Game modes Coin Limit Yoshi's Eggs Tag Domination Fire Frenzy Bob-Omb Survival - Improved collision detection (fixed screen edge bugs) - Chocobo sprites in Chicken Mode - Down jumping through solid on top blocks - Improved menu Graphics Map view Player select (allows any player to be in any state: disabled, player, cpu) Help keys at bottom of screen - Choice of spawn styles Added door and swirl to help you find your player when spawning - Pause game feature - Improved game scoreboard - game leader wears crown - Two layers on map (one for tiles and one for blocks) - 10 new maps and updated old maps with new blocks and backgrounds - Various eyecandy effects like dust and explosions - Friction jumping through air is less than on ground - Added classic Mario sound effects - More vibrantly colored player sprites |
